My books have been published all over the world in lots of languages I can’t read, including Korean and Finnish, and one or two which I can, such as French. The English titles include Discovering Wine; Wine With Food, the research for which involved several years of strenuous eating and drinking – plus ça change; The Sunday Times Book of Wine; Wine An Introduction; and Harrods Book of Fine Wine, of which I was editor and principal writer, with additional contributions from the likes of Robert Parker, Michael Broadbent, Serena Sutcliffe and James Halliday. Of all the foreign language editions, one of the most satisfying was getting Wine With Food published in French (titled Les Bons Accords). I was told initially that there was no chance of the French taking such a book written by a Brit, especially a female one. I’m also rather proud of my name as it appears on some of the East European editions, Joanna Simonová. Exotic or what?
