My books have been pub­lished all over the world in lots of lan­guages I can’t read, includ­ing Korean and Finnish, and one or two which I can, such as French. The Eng­lish titles include Dis­cov­er­ing Wine; Wine With Food, the research for which involved several years of stren­u­ous eat­ing and drink­ing – plus ça change; The Sun­day Times Book of Wine; Wine An Intro­duc­tion; and Har­rods Book of Fine Wine, of which I was edi­tor and prin­ci­pal writer, with additional contributions from the likes of Robert Parker, Michael Broadbent, Serena Sutcliffe and James Halliday. Of all the for­eign language edi­tions, one of the most sat­is­fy­ing was getting Wine With Food pub­lished in French (titled Les Bons Accords). I was told ini­tially that there was no chance of the French tak­ing such a book writ­ten by a Brit, espe­cially a female one. I’m also rather proud of my name as it appears on some of the East Euro­pean edi­tions, Joanna Simonová. Exotic or what?
